One of the most rewarding aspects of being part of young people’s education is what happens beyond the confines of a classroom. Seeing students conquer their fear of heights at Hagg Farm or being genuinely in awe of the effort’s soldiers went to in the First World War is not surprisingly pleasing. Designing school enrichment that not only adds to the growth of our young people but extends learning beyond the classroom takes time but is always rewarded with exceptional student attitudes. Year 7s trip to the Galleries of Justice last week led by Ms Surgery and Mrs Westwood gave the students a great insight into the history of Nottingham. Year 7 Geographers have been developing their fieldwork skills using new weather measuring equipment to collect data around the Academy. As the summer break begins and students embark on some much-needed rest and relaxation, the opportunities that parents and guardians provide for learning outside the classroom have a significant impact come the students return to school in September. Whether it be a summer project, a trip to a cultural sight, reading or simply spending time with family, the summer break is a fantastic opportunity to keep learning.
